Early Christmas present

I had an early Christmas present last week... a massive donation of fabric from a friend who was given it from their friend...!! I love it when people have too much fabric and feel the need to give it away. This is just a very small pile of the amount I was given. So inspiring to be given piles of fabric!! I left it sitting in the living room  for a few days just looking at it, mixing and matching colours and imagining what I could make with it. So many ideas came up, I'll have to get sewing again.

Elephants and apples

Some cute elephants on these cushions eating apples. These would go nicely in my son's room as he already has quite a few elephants in there in various forms! these are available here

Old favourites and new obsessions

Still making cushions... I think it's addictive and somewhat theraputic!! I have so much fabric, so many colour combinations and options, it's never ending! A bit of pink with orange, an old favourite with a current obsession.....

A friend for yellow sleepy bunny

I took a break from making cushions and made a friend for the yellow sleepy bunny I had made previously. It's a pink version! Not too many pink things get made these days but I couldn't resist these pink stripes on a recent pop in to a fabric store. I think I make things that could go in my boys rooms if they don't get given as a gift or put in the made it store! These will be for sale soon and I am making some pink cushions also! Pink is making a comeback!

Green raindrops

This is a pair of cushions I made as a custom order for a lovely customer! The raindrops have been appliqued on to compliment the raindrop fabric. I love green but wouldn't wear it with my skin tone... much like yellow!! Home decor and decorating is always a great option for green for me, as is dressing your children in it!

Twin teddies

These two little Grey Sleepy teddies were made for a customer who requested 2 of the original sleepy teddy but they were for a set of twin boys so she wanted similar teddies but not exactly the same. I had a similar grey and white spot fabric and added yellow spotty fabric on the back instead of the yellow stripes.  She liked the idea calling it "same same, yet different". Very cute!

Relaxing in comfort

A new cushion in my made it store. Perfect for relaxing over Christmas! It is made from various cotton fabrics and denim making it very robust for kids rooms! I'm busy making more cushions so there will be more to choose from soon! Today will be 38-40 degrees so a perfect day to stay inside and sew!

Very Sleepy

Yesterday the made it site featured this Grey Sleepy Teddy of mine in their "Monday new finds" newsletter. It is emailed to subscribers and as a post on their facebook site. So that was very exciting, always good to have more advertising and promotion. Then I started getting lots of orders for this Sleepy Teddy. I spent the day sewing and still have a few to go..... very busy but happy to be getting orders!

More fabric

Another new fabric.... I don't often buy fabric with actual images on it and definitely not girly ones but this was cute. I usually buy spots and stripes. I could see a little pinafore dress in this for a little girl or some cushions for a girls' room. Too bad I don't have girls! I'll have to give away or sell what I make.

Pouring wax a nice surprise!

I spent a lovely morning with a friend making soy wax candles yesterday. It was a surprise Christmas present and I didn't know what we were doing until we arrived. It was fairly straight forward, after we melted the wax we got to choose our colours and scents for the candles and ended up with quite a few candles each. It was at Gasworks Park in Port Melbourne which also happened to have a farmers market on. So while we waited for our candles to set we had a coffee and a browse at the farmers market, making a few delicious purchases along the way. What a great morning!

Stripes in Yellow

I haven't bought any fabric in weeks but needed to get ribbon, interfacing and the like for various projects. This makes it very hard to not look at fabric since it's in the same shop! Anyway I ended up with just a few fabrics. This lovely yellow stripe was one of them. I choose fabric in various ways... either specific need, I love it so I buy it with no purpose or I see a fabric and an idea forms from the fabric. This yellow stripe was like that as I imagined it as a top for a rabbit softie. Images just pop into my head of things I could make with it... then I have to buy it!

He's a little rough but a bit of experimentation could fix that, if not, another softie for the kids.

Baubles and birds

Christmas is fast approaching and I've been busy making quite a few orders of these fabric Christmas tree ornaments. People are obviously statrting to get ready..... I usually love decorating the tree but in the last few years it has gone up very close to Christmas so little hands don't remove the decorations. I'll have to wait again this year perhaps until the week before....

Chosen by a cat

This Paisley green Elephant softie was chosen by Axl the Cat ( a staff member on made it!) in the staff picks for this week. It gets featured all week. You can see the staff picks here. (refresh your browser if you can't see the elephant!) There are also picks by other sellers on made it as well , which is always nice to see other people's favourite items.

Getting ready for Christmas

Here are the latest additions to be added to the Dewberry Workshop Made it store.  A set of red fabric Christmas ornaments for hanging on the tree or using as gift tags. Reds and pinks are usually my favourite colour selections  but I have done a lot of branching out into other colours having  two boys.  It's very nice to go back to my favourites! Check them out here on made it.

Bushwalking adventure

Sunday was the perfect weather for a little bushwalking adventure. We went to Kinglake and did a bushwalk to a waterfall lookout. The bush area was beautiful and quiet. It was only short, 1.5km round trip, just enough with two little ones. The boys loved it on the way there but going uphill on the way back was a bit much! Dad ended up carrying them for the last part!!

Walking in Port Melbourne

Going on a little stroll on one of our recent warmer days around Port Melbourne, holding onto Dad's pockets!

New cushions

These cushion are the latest item I have added to my made it shop. I made them mainly as decor for children's rooms but would also be good as a feature on your couch. I also have the matching bird soft toys in my shop so it could be a set.

The cushions are all made from various cotton fabrics. The animals have been appliqued and machine embroidered onto a natural cotton/ linen blend. The bird cushion features one of my favourite fabrics from Umbrella Prints, the Raindrops in Kimono Red. I'm also a little bit obsessed by the cotton/linen blend of the plain fabric on these cushions, with it turning up in quite a few of my latest works! But I'll always love colour!
